Antonio Gnoli is a journalist and essayist. He was formerly chief editor of the cultural section of "Repubblica", and he still contributes to the newspaper, and he is the author and co-author of essays and book length interviews taken from conversations with leading figures from Italian and European culture (Franco Volpi, Edoardo Sanguineti, Gianfranco Ferroni, Ernst Jünger, Albert Hofmann). In the course of his journalistic career, he has worked with the likes of Rainer Maria Rilke, Jacob Burckhardt, Ferdinand Bordewijk, Martin Heidegger, Alexandre Kojève, John Dos Passos; he has also published a memorable 1982 interview with Bruce Chatwin ("La nostalgia dello spazio"). In 2016, he collected the thoughts and reflections of the singer-songwriter Francesco De Gregori in the book "Passo d'uomo".
