Diego Marani was born in Ferrara in 1959 and works as the main translator and editor at the European Union in Bruxelles. Every week, on a Swiss daily, he writes a column on current issues and international comments written in an invented language, Europanto, a brilliant game, a provocation against linguistic extremism tackled in many European, American and Japanese papers. In Europanto he published in France the collection of stories "Les adventures des inspector Cabillot". In 2000, Bompiani published his first novel "Nuova grammatica finlandese" with which he was awarded the Grinzane Cavour Prize.
