Elena Favilli was born in 1982. A journalist and entrepreneur, she has worked with "Colors Magazine", RAI, "Il Post", "La Repubblica," and McSweeney. She graduated in Semiotics from Bologna University and has studied Digital Media at Berkeley, California. She is the founder and director of "Timbuktu Labs", a media company that creates innovative products for children of all ages, and she is the co-author, alongside Francesca Cavallo, of the book "Storie della buonanotte per bambine ribelli" (2017), a huge success which came from a simple idea: girls are tired of the old stories about princesses, burning castles and nasty monsters: they want different stories which are unique and true. That's how new bedtime stories were created: sixty female illustrators from across the world who tell the true stories of heroines of our time, from Rita Levi Montalcini and Frida Kahlo to Margherita Hack and Michelle Obama, with an ever-present touch of engaging lightness and sincere admiration.
