Fabrizio Illuminati graduated in Physics in 1988 from the Università di Roma 'La Sapienza' with top marks. After completing a PhD in Physics at the Università di Padova (1992), he became a Research fellow at the Royal Norwegian Science Foundation at the University of Oslo, and he completed research in Germany, as a Fellow at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the universities of Konstanz and Potsdam. He was later a Visiting Professor at the University of Potsdam. Since 2015, he has been professor of Theoretical Physics at the Department of Industrial Engineering/DIIN of the Università degli Studi di Salerno, where he formerly worked as a researcher for the Physics of Matter (1996-2007) and professor of Theoretical Physics (2007-2015). He has coordinated the projects "Ingegneria quantistica" (2016-2018) and "Equam" (2013-2020) and he is the author and co-author of more than 130 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. His studies mainly focus on the conceptual and structural aspects of quantum mechanics, and their application for the development of new quantum technologies.
