Born and bred in Ravenna, Chiara Lagani and Luigi De Angelis founded the Fanny & Alexander company in 1992 and begin to trace a path destined to stand out for their originality in the panorama of Italian theatre in the mid Nineties. Initially, their production ranged from a re-enactment of Shakespeare ("Romeo and Juliet - et ultra", 1999-2000) to the resumption of the imagery of the cemetery in the performance/concert "Requiem" (2001). They then built up a series of projects which, by reference to a single source, generated a series of shows or performances. The first was "Ada, cronaca familiare", inspired by Nabokov's novel and winner of two Ubu awards. This was followed by the "Heliogabalus" trilogy (2006) and, from 2007, they have developed the "O-Z" project, with "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by Frank L. Baum serving as the reference point. They kicked off the "T.E.L." project in 2011, based on the figure and works of T. E. Lawrence, while the last few years have seen the "Discorsi" (2011-14) "We need money!" (2016) and "ЗМЕЯ The Riot of Seduction" (2017) productions. In 2015 Fanny & Alexander took charge of the directing, costume and staging of the "Die Zauberflöte - The Magic Flute" by W.A. Mozart, commissioned by the Teatro Comunale in Bologna.
