Ferruccio De Bortoli

A journalist, born in 1953, he graduated in Law from the University of Milan. He works as a columnist for the "Corriere del Ticino" and the "Corriere della Sera". His debut in journalism came in 1973 with his collaboration with the "Corriere dei ragazzi". He later worked for the "Corriere d'Informazione" and "L'Europeo". At the "Corriere della Sera", the newspaper which he led from 1997 to 2003 and from 2009 to 2015, he gained years of experience as editor in chief and as a commentator on economics and politics. He also edited "Il Sole 24 Ore" and was managing director of Rcs libri until 2005. «The journalist, he wrote in the essay "Consapevoli" (2014), chooses, understands cause and effect, frames the facts in the stream of history, gives the reader or navigator an interpretive key, a ranking of meaning. He puts his knowledge and his heart, his feelings, his doubts into his work. He will also give his opinion, but he will never - at least this is my vision of a journalist - that what he thinks will alter the objectivity of the facts that he is bound to describe to his audience». In 2017, he released "Poteri forti (o quasi)", a book that reconstructs forty years of history in Italy and around the world from his special vantage point.
