Ivano Battiston

Ivano Battiston studied accordion with Salvatore di Gesualdo and graduated with full marks from the Conservatorio of Castelfranco Veneto. In 1978, he took first prize at the XXVIII Trophée Mondial de l'Accordeon; he later earned diplomas in choral music and bassoon, studying composition in-depth with Bruno Coltro. He has performed concerts for leading Italian and international musical instituions, incluing the orchestras of the Opera de Lyon and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, with the Orchestra da camera in Padua and the Veneto, the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana and the Ensemble Musica / Realtà in Reggio Emilia. He has joined dozens of internationally-renowned musicians and recorded for Belumat Editrice, Warner Fonit, Sargasso Records, Promo Music, Profil - Hanssler, Velut Luna, Ema Records and Deutsche Grammophon. Former holder of the chair of accordion at the Conservatorio 'Luigi Cherubini' in Florence, he has held masterclasses in Italy, Germany, Finland, Croatia, Albania, Serbia, United Kingdom, Russia and the United States.
