Luigi Farrauto designs maps and signage, and he is an assiduous traveller, especially in the Middle East and ancient cities. He studied Graphic Design at the Politecnico di Milano and graduated with a thesis on the old city of Damascus. He worked in Amsterdam for two years at the Mijksenaar studio and contributed to various projects, including Amsterdam and Abu Dhabi airports. A former Visiting Researcher at MIT Senseable City Lab in Boston, he has taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna and at the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan. Author of Lonely Planet Italy, he documents his trips with countless photos published on the site faroutof.it. He opened studio 100km with Andrea Novali, specialising in maps and way-finding.
