Pier Aldo Rovatti

A long time contributor to "aut aut" (which he has edited since 1976), the philosopher and professor Pier Aldo Rovatti (Modena, 1942) studied philosophy at the University of Milan with Enzo Paci. His first works were focussed on the theories of Alfred North Whitehead and on the phenomenological analysis of Marxism together with intense prefaces to worked by Heller, Jean-Paul Sartre, David Hume, Phillippe Sollers and many others. He co-edited the anthology "Il pensiero debole" (1983) with Gianna Vattiamo, which was translated abroad and reprinted several times, giving way to extensive debate on the pages of "Alfabeta" magazine. His contribution to the history of philosophical thinking, which includes dozens of essays and editing, focuses primarily on the metaphysics of the subject in relation to the legacy of Nietzsche, Husserl and Heidegger, the psychoanalysis of Freud and Lacan, and the writings of Gilles Deleuze, Jaques Derrida, Michel Foucault and Emmanuel Lévinas. In 2011, to mark the sixtieth anniversary of "aut-aut", he edited the book "Il coraggio della filosofia". Some of his most recently edited books include the two anthologies "Con Nietzsche" (2015) and "Individui pericolosi, società a rischio 2" (2017, with Mario Colucci).
