Lorenzo Mattotti

He was born in Brescia in 1954 and read architecture at Venice University. He was still a student when he started publishing his drawings on "Re Nudo" a comic-strip story on "La Bancarella". As early as 1976 he showed his talent and very personal style by drawing a chapter of "Casanova's life" included in a volume published by Mondograf. The following year, with texts by Fabrizio Ostani "Alice Brum Brum", and in 1978, with texts by Antonio Tettamanti, a comic-strip adaptation of "Le avventure di Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain and some stories on the weekly "Secondamano". Together with Carpinteri, Igort and Jori in 1983 he founded the Bologna-based group Valvoline. Then he combined comic strips (his most important works include "Incidenti", "Il signor Spartaco" e "Fuochi") with illustrating for "Vanity" fashion magazine and other magazines as well as creating images for billboards and advertising campaigns.
