Domenico De Masi, born in Rotello (CB) in 1938, is a sociologist and a author. After gratuating in Sociology he worked for several financial institutions and public industries before returning to the accedemic world at the University La Sapienza Rome, where he teaches Sociology of Labour since 1961. This together with urban sociology forms the area of his main interest, on which he does his research and publishes essays. He is the chairman of SIT (Italian Society for Teleworking), and the founder and the scientific director of S3-Studium, Advanced School of Organizational Sciences, as well as the director of the magazine Next. Furthermore he edits the series La Società for Franco Angeli Publishing House and writes articles for several newspapers and journals.
