Elisa Ruotolo was born in 1975 in Santa Maria a Vico, Caserta, where she currently lives. She gruaduated in Classical Studies and teaches in a high school. She published two short stories in two anthologies. Ho rubato la pioggia is her first book, Renato Fucini' prize winner and finalist for Carlo Cocito prize in 2010. It is a collection of three stories where the author tells of the provincial situation in the south, with its superstition and silence, where time goes very slowly. Her consolidation comes with the novel Ovunque, proteggici, Strega prize finalist in 2014, a family saga revolving around a mysterious murder in an attempt to make sense of various fates in a long gone time.
