Silvana Greco

Silvana Greco, is an academic scholar in the field of sociology of culture, who lives between Berlin and Milan. After having worked in some of the most prestigious Italian universities, she teaches Sociology of Judaism at the Freie Universität Berlin since 2013. She has worked in numerous research projects, funded by the European Union, and has a long experience of social research at international level, which spans more than 25 years of scientific activity. She is member of ESA – European Sociological Association , DGS – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie (Section: "Kultursoziologie"), AIS - Associazione italiana di Sociologia. She has written extensively on the sociology of culture, of Judiasm, art and migration. Among her books: Il sociologo eretico. Moses Dobruska e la sua Philosophie sociale (1793) (2021), Il Rinascimento parla ebraico (with G. Busi, 2019); Cibo, identità culturale e religione. Tra antico e contemporaneo (with G. Busi, C. Lambrugo, G. Curatola , M. Albanese., 2016); L'amicizia nell'età adulta. Legami d'intimità e traiettorie di vita (with P. Rebughini, M. Ghisleni, 2012). In Italy she is Vice-president of the Fondazione Palazzo Bondoni Pastorio (Mantua). At the Foundation she directs the sociological unit and is responsible for art exhibitions and music concerts.
