Valerio Pellizzari has been an Italian correspondent for Il Messaggero and La Stampa. He is considered one of the world's twenty greatest war correspondents. A great connoisseur of the Middle Eastern world, he has followed conflicts and political developments in the Middle East, in the Far East, in Central Asia, in Magreb and in Eastern Europe. He was declared public enemy by Saddam Hussein's regime for revealing documents proving chemical experiments on Kurd prisoners. Two decades after Kabul Kabul (with Ettore Mo), in 2012 he published In battaglia, quando l'uva è matura, a volume about his long journalistic experience in Afganistan.
