A writer and journalist, was born in Bologna in 1960. For two years he was sent to New York by the daily La Stampa and he directed Rai Sport from 2016 to 2018. He works as an editorialist for la Repubblica and "Vanity Fair" and collaborates with periodicals such as Diario and Avvenire. He made his debut in fiction in 1987 with Undici calciatori within the collection Giovani Blues, an anthology edited by Pier Vittorio Tondelli for the promotion of authors under 25. In 1993, he published Navi in bottiglia. 101 microracconti, followed by Oggetti da smarrire, In tempo per il cielo, Videocronache, Passeggeri e Louisiana blues. In 2004 he published his first novel, L'artista, for which he was awarded the Garda Prize. His following books Solo i treni hanno la strada segnata, Un tuffo nella luce or Domanda di grazia bear witness to his very distinctive voice. Solo bagaglio a mano (2015) is a metaphor for a society always on the go. His latest works are: Cosa faresti se (2021), Sogno bianco (2022) and La prima cosa bella (2024).
