A world-famous architect, in 1969, he graduated in Architecture at Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice and in 1965 he carried out an apprenticeship at Le Corbusier Studio in Venice, collaborating at the planning of the new hospital. In 1969, in Venice, he met Louis I. Kahn with whom he organized an exhibition on the project for the new Palazzo dei Congressi. Later that year, he started working in his own studio in Lugano. He was awarded many honours and prizes, and teaches at the most prestigious universities in the world. His most recent works include the Public Library in Dortmund, Germany (1995-1999), the Watari-um Contemporary Art Gallery in Tokyo, Japan (1985-1990), Pilotta Garden in Parma, Italy (1986/96-2001), The Cathedral of Resurrection in Evry, France (1988-1995), the Cymbalist Synagogue and the Centre for Jewish Heritage in Tel Aviv, Israel (1996-1998) and the MART in Rovereto (2002). Since 1970 he has taught and researched, giving seminars, conferences and holding courses in architecture in many architecture institutes in Europe, Asia and America. Many exhibitions and publications have been devoted to his research, and his professional activity has produced many important works all over the world.
