Vittorio Lingiardi (Milan, 1960), psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, is a full professor of Dynamic Psychology at 'La Sapienza' Univerity's Faculty of Medicine and Psychology where he has directed the School of Clinical Psychology (2006-2013). After graduating in Medicine and Surgery, he specialised in Psychiatry, Pedagogy and Health Science Teaching Methodology. Between 1987 and 1995, he studied in the US and Canada at Menninger Clinic, Chestnut Lodge Clinic and McGill University. From 2004 to 2010 he was member of the Executive Council of Clinical and Dynamic section of the Italian Association of Psychology. He is also a member of the Executive Council of Panel of Dynamic Psychology Professor and Researchers and of the Italian Chapter of the Society for Psychotherapy Research. His scientific activity focuses on topics such as diagnostic assessment of personality disorder, research in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, defence mechanisms, therapeutic alliance, genre identity and sexual orientation. He has edited several essays including "Terza cultura. Idee per un futuro sostenibile" (with Nicla Vassallo) and "Linee guida per la consulenza psicologica e la psicoterapia con persone lesbiche, gay e bisessuali" (with Nicola Nardelli).
