Living and dying in the United States of America
"Seven children or teens every day are shot dead on average, which is easy to say, but once you get your head around it, it's a stunning idea. That in a western country at peace seven kids would be shot dead every day.
When people would say to me 'I read the first chapter of your book and it was really hard, I had to put it down for a few days', I might say, not to chide them but just to frame it, that 21 children were shot dead in those three days. And the realiabilty of that statistic is chilling."
