Federico Maggioni was born in Campo Ossuccio (Como) and now lives and works in Milan. A graphic designer and illustrator, he was in charge of the artistic section of "Corriere dei Piccoli", "Corriere dei Ragazzi", "Pilot" and later he became graphic advisor for Bompiani, Fabbri and Ipsoa publishing houses. His drawings have appeared in a number of magazines and books and covers for several publishing houses. For the daily "Il Giorno" he produced the weekly children's supplement. At the moment he is in charge of the graphic section for "Il Sole 24 Ore", Laserdata & Egarve publishing houses and he is also graphic advisor for Mondadori Ragazzi and collaborates with advertising promotions for "Il Nastro di Moebius". In 1986, he won the Andersen Prize for illustrations, in 1991 the Silver Palm at Salone Internazionale dell'Umorismo, in 1993, the Plaque BIB Prize at Biennale d'Illustrazione of Bratislava, and in 1995 the Silver Date at Salone Internazionale dell'Umorismo.
