Giovanni Bietti is a composer, pianist, musicologist and art consultant at the Santa Cecilia National Academy in Rome. His compositions have been produced at the Edinburgh National Festival, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the International Festival of Kuhmo, Finland, at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, interpreted by artists such as the violinist Thomas Zehetmair and the pianist Boris Berezhovskij. He taught composition at the conservatory 'V. Bellini' in Catania and Ethnomusicology at the University Carlo Bo of Urbino. For more than 10 years he has been collaborating with Philips Classics. Bietti is considered one of the best experts in Italy, he gives concert-conferences on a regular basis at the most famous Italian cultural instututs. As a musician he worked with internationally renown artists, such as Katia Ricciarelli, Boris Carmeli, the composers Mauricio Kagel and Alessandro Cipriani, the violinist Thomas Zehetmair with whom he performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin. He composed the soundtrack for the movie Vito balla con le streghe by Vittorio Nevano. He works as a radio host for Rai Radio 3, where he conducts the programme Lezioni di musica and he published essays and sheet music revisions for Longanesi, Ricordi, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Skira and Laterza. Bietti has also been a wine taster for L'Espresso's guide I vini d'Italia and he is the author of the four volumes guide Vini naturali d'Italia.
