Franco Nasi, an essayist and translator, trained under Luciano Anceschi's school of aesthetics at the University of Bologna. Throughout his career, he has focused on Aesthetics, Romantic Poetics, Translation Studies, and Comparative Literature. He taught Italian Language and Literature, Translation Theory, and Anglo-American Literature at several universities, including Loyola University Chicago (1995–1998), The University of Chicago (1998–2001), and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (2001–2023), where he long held the chairs of Anglo-American Literatures and Translation Theories. He has translated and edited various volumes by British and American authors, including S.T. Coleridge, W. Wordsworth, John Stuart Mill, and Walt Whitman, as well as works by contemporary poets such as Billy Collins and Roger McGough. His published essays include Poetiche in transito (Medusa, 2004), La malinconia del traduttore (Medusa, 2008), Specchi comunicanti (Medusa, 2010), Traduzioni estreme (Quodlibet, 2015), Tradurre l'errore (Quodlibet, 2021), and Ritmi americani. Saggi su stile e traduzione (Quodlibet, 2025). Together with Angela Albanese, he co-edited the volume L'artefice aggiunto. Riflessioni sulla traduzione in Italia 1900-1975 (Longo, 2015).
