Lucio Caracciolo, born in Rome in 1954, is an Italian journalist, essayist, and academic. He directs the Italian geopolitics magazine Limes—which he founded in 1993 and which has become a benchmark in the debate on international current affairs over the decades—as well as the Eurasian Review of Geopolitics Heartland, established in 2000. From 1973 to 1975, he was an editor for Nuova Generazione, before moving to the daily newspaper la Repubblica, where he continues to write authoritative foreign policy editorials to this day; he was also the editor-in-chief of MicroMega from 1986 to 1995. Counted among the most eminent experts on geopolitics in Italy (he is also a well-regarded television commentator), he has written several essays, some of which have also been published abroad, and has taught at various universities. Among his most significant books in recent years are La pace è finita. Così ricomincia la storia (Feltrinelli, 2022) and La Terra del Fuoco. Geopolitica della catastrofe in corso (Piemme, 2024).
