Accessibility information:
-> The festival events take place inside the house and in the garden. The entrance is through the gate on the right side of the museum.
-> The path leading to the tent is covered in gravel and grass. The structure has a raised wooden platform. Access is through a ramp with an adequate slope.
-> Toilets are located in the basement of the house. There is an elevator inside. The elevator car is small, with a width of 75 cm.
-> An accessible portable toilet is set up in the garden. Its use is reserved for people with mobility impairments.
It was built in 1476 by the architect Andrea Mantegna himself on a property donated to him by the Marquis Ludovico II. On the architrave leading to the room next to the large inside garden the inscription «Ab Olimpo» can be seen. The two-storey house is enclosed in a circular internal courtyard which naturally reminds its visitors of the oculum of the painted ceiling in the Camera degli Sposi. Mantegna's house is now property of the Provincial Administration of Mantova and hosts art exhibitions, while in the garden behind it several events from Festivaletteratura are usually staged.
