Beatrice Masini was born in Milan, where she lives and works. Former Editorial Director of Bompiani, she has won numerous awards for her literary work, including the Premio Andersen on five different occasions and the Premio Elsa Morante Ragazzi for La spada e il cuore. Donne della Bibbia. In the past, she was an editor at Fabbri Editori, and she translated the books of the Harry Potter saga and many other modern and contemporary classics into Italy for Salani. As an author, she has ventured into all fields of children's fiction, from illustrated picture books for toddlers to novels for teenagers, and her stories have been translated all over the world. She has collaborated on multiple occasions with writer friends and colleagues, in particular with Roberto Piumini for the writing of the classic Ciao, tu. Having always been passionate about flowers and the countryside, in 2013 she published the adult novel Tentativi di botanica degli affetti, a finalist for the Premio Campiello. Only in recent years has she signed, among many others: the biography Louisa May Alcott. Quando scrivere è necessario (Giulio Perrone, 2022 and 2024); the novel Una casa fuori dal tempo (Mondadori, 2024); the refined illustrated book Bambini e giardini (with Francesca Ballarini, Timpetill, 2025, finalist for the Strega Ragazze e Ragazzi Prize); the poetry collection Dammi per sempre giugno (Molesini, 2026).
